La Mirada was founded by Andrew McNally, founder of Rand McNally Publishing Company, who came to California in the 1880s and purchased almost 2,300 acres of rangeland and named the area La Mirada, which in Spanish means “The View”. Today, The City of La Mirada population is close to 50,000; a compact residential community with big amenities.
The city places a strong emphasis on beautification, with superbly maintained parkways, streets and parks. A wide range of restaurants and hotels offer a comfortable visit. And, of course, Broadway-caliber entertainment is staged in one of Southern California’s best theatres, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, a city-owned and maintained facility.
The theatre is freeway close to most of Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside/San Bernardino counties, adjacent to where the 5 and 91 freeways meet. Parking is always free and plentiful.
