Join us for a one-of-a-kind, newly added show celebrating the iconic life and music of “the father of the modern Broadway musical,” George M. Cohan. Mr. Broadway: The George M. Cohan Celebration will include a bevy of entertainment such as:

  • The first public showing of his 1906 hit musical 45 MINUTES FROM BROADWAY, shot in 1959 for TV and directed and choregraphed by Gower Champion (known for Hello, Dolly! and 42nd Street), starring Tammy Grimes
  • Special live performances from Davis Gaines, Tony winner John Rubinstein, Lesli Margherita, and more singing world premiere and rare Cohan numbers
  • New and exclusive, never-before-seen interview clips of the legendary Joel Grey* sharing the thrill of playing Cohan on Broadway
  • An expansive exhibit of vintage Cohan posters, sheet music, photos, and more displayed in our lobby
  • And many more surprises throughout the evening!

 

*Joel Grey will not be in attendance at this event.

Cohan Library Event ArtSaturday, June 29 at 2PM: Kick off your weekend of Cohan festivities with a FREE Concert & Book Signing at the La Mirada Library! Elizabeth T. Craft, author of the brand-new book, Yankee Doodle Dandy: George M. Cohan and the Broadway Stage, will speak of his dynamic life and legacy. Copies of her book, the first on Cohan in 50 years, will be available for purchase and signing. The program will also include thrilling musical performances by amazing Broadway singers, belting out classic and rarely-heard Cohan gems. Recommended for adults.
